The Demon Shall Be Slayed

This pandal was made at the Deshapriya Park in Kolkata. While it poured outside and the demon got wet, I got this click and ran inside to be mesmerized by the Goddess. The thought that I had was: if the inner beauty is good then everything is good. Mumma says that is not what this pandal tried to depict. Oh the adult mind! They never want to think beyond what they know.

When The Meenakshi Temple had Moved To Kolkata

Between concrete buildings when you see the colourful replica of the famous Meenakshi Temple, you can’t help but smile.

If all ceilings were so pretty

I loved the ceiling decor of this pandal at Jodhpur Park. I’m still trying to convince my mother to make my room’s ceiling like this. Wish me luck.

And The Groom’s Expectation Goes Skyrocketing!

This was the pandal-peak that Bose Pukur created during Durga Puja of 2016. It represents the ‘topor’ or the headgear that Bengali grooms wear during marriage. How true the representation is. It is touching the sky! Just like their expectations do when they tie the knot with a lady.

The Dance of Colours

Kolkata dresses up like a bride during Durga Puja. This is only a small example of the type of lights that illuminate the city during this festival. One can’t help but drown in the beauty of it.

Why are these called Hot Dogs?

I asked Mumma why they are called hot dogs. She said that long ago someone had put up a poster of a dachshund dog inside a bun and was selling these at a polo match. I wanted to see the poster but she said that it has not been found yet!
